Cherry blossoms
Sakura sakura ♪ There are many songs with sakura in the title but I’m referring to this old folk song!
Anyhow, I didn’t get the chance to attend any hanami parties but when my phone’s weather report (sent to me twice a day! I love Japanese phones!) told me that we might be coming to the end of cherry blossom season (mind you this was in early April!), I had to rush out to snap some pictures!
I went to Kandagawa River which is a 10-15 minute walk away from my dorm. It was absolutely stunning! And it would have probably been even more beautiful if I took these earlier and not towards the end of the season. I took a lot of pictures but they don’t really do it any justice!

I went to Shinjuku Gyoen with some friends two weeks later and there were still some cherry blossoms left! We had an unusually long cherry blossom season this year because of the weather.

I didn’t used to get all the hype around cherry blossoms before. I mean, I thought that they must be beautiful but I didn’t really understand why everyone made such a huge deal about them. But after seeing them for myself, I understand why! They are really really stunning and they made Tokyo look absolutely beautiful!
