Day 2 in Kyoto!

Shrine hopping, sight seeing, parfaits and geiko-san/maiko-san! Awesome awesome day : D

We started off bright and early to beat the crowds at Kiyomizudera. After a nice uphill slope, we got there!

On the famous terrace

The picture everyone who comes here ends up taking!

After Kiyomizudera, we made our way to Sanjusangendo. This temple was very very cool. There was a big statue of a thousand armed Kannon as well as a thousand life sized statues of the Kannon - they are all unique! No pictures inside but I would recommend it!

Then it was off to Heian Jingu!

After that we went to Ginkakuji - the Silver Pavilion which isn’t silver. It’s modeled after the Gold Pavilion and was supposed to get covered in silver but it never did. It was here that I got super embarrassed because I unknowingly walked into some schoolgirl’s picture. Just as she was taking it I walked right in front of her camera. I’m pretty sure my eyes were half closed and my mouth was half open. As she took the picture she shouted ‘YABAI!’ (meaning oh crap!) and then showed her friends the picture and they all laughed at it for the longest time D: and I wanted to bury myself in a hole! Make a fool of yourself in Kyoto? Check. Haha!

Matcha cream puff outside of Ginkakuji - to make myself feel better for making a fool of myself! Haha it was delicious :D

And then back to Gion for some matcha parfait at the famous Tsujiri! So amazing!

Then we lined up at the Gion corner to see if we could join in on a tea party with Geiko and Maiko! We thought we would be early but there was already a queue D: Luckily we got tickets for the second show :D

Maiko-san so elegant!

After that it was some more wandering around Gion! Awesome day! I love Kyoto! :D
