Hakone

On Monday and Tuesday of this week I went to Hakone! I’ve been once before when I was younger with my family and I remember really liking it and that it was a really pretty place. My family didn’t really like taking pictures though so this time I wanted to take pictures of the things I see so that I’ll remember them later on!

When we got to Hakone on Monday, we went straight to Owakudani for the black eggs! Each one is supposed to prolong your life by 7 years. I had 2.5 eggs (they only sold them in packs of five and there were only 2 of us so we had to eat more!)

Owakudani from the ropeway!

Black egg!

Looks normal under the shell though. Tastes just like a normal egg too!

Tamago (egg) soft cream! Another flavour to add to my list of weird soft cream flavours! It didn’t really taste that eggy though.. don’t really know how to describe it o_o They also had wasabi soft cream but don’t have enough guts to try that yet…

You’re supposed to be able to see Mt. Fuji from Owakudani on a clear day but unfortunately for us we couldn’t see it on Monday D:

Then we headed to our hostel (I loved it!) to check in and put our stuff down before heading out to the Hakone Open Air Museum.

Pampas grass field near the hostel

The Hakone Open Air Museum was brilliant! I love love loved it! It costs 1600 for an adult to get in >_< but if you have a student ID and the Hakone Free Pass like we did, you can get in for 1000! :D Random shots from the museum:

Two cats at the entrance just chilling out on the vents (warmer there I guess?) :D

After that we had a bit of an adventure getting back to the hostel. We didn’t know that the Ropeway closed at like 4:15 or something so we couldn’t take it to get back. We took a roundabout way on buses but got back safe and sound eventually! Then we used the outdoor onsen at the hostel! My first outdoor onsen experience - been there done that! :D Then food and sleep!

The next day, we took the sightseeing boat across Lake Ashi. And luckily, because it rained the night before…

The sky was clearer and Mt. Fuji was out!

Mt. Fuji and Hakone Shrine! Mt. Fuji was still a bit covered up by clouds then…

We got off at Moto-Hakone Pier to take a look at Hakone Shrine where we had festival food!

And more Mt. Fuji pics from the ropeway!

Close up!

Then we were about to head back to Tokyo but made a last minute decision to go to Yunessun! It was pricey but I got to try the doctor fish foot bath (the bath where the little fish nibble at your skin)! And sit in coffee, wine, green tea, sake… I don’t know if it was worth the money though? Oh well, still fun - especially the fish foot bath! I’ve wanted to try that for a while - been there done that now :D

And then we headed back home… on the Romance Car!

Great trip :D Had lots of fun!
